About the wheat plot tours

The in-person winter wheat plot tours occur in early June each year in south central and east Nebraska. The UNL Crop Variety and Hybrid Testing Program is run by Cody Creech, Amanda Easterly, and Brian Maust. To increase accessibility to the public testing efforts, a self-guided and digital picture tour are additional options for farmers and agronomist at the Jefferson County location. Nathan Mueller, Water & Integrated Cropping Systems Extension Educator, the primary contact for winter wheat production questions in eastern and portions of south central Nebraska. UNL Winter Wheat Variety Plot Tour in Jefferson County – June 8, 2021 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm

  • Location: GPS: 40.204501, -97.122014. From Fairbury, east 3 miles on Hwy 136, then north 2.5 miles on 571st Ave. Field is on the southeast corner of 716th Road and 571st Ave.

  • Location: GPS: 40.492924, -96.816569. From Clatonia, east 1.5 miles on Hwy 41 , then north 2 miles on SW 72nd Rd. Field on the southeast corner of  W Ash Rd & SW 72nd Rd.

2021 Self Guided Plot Tour

  • Self-Guided Field Tour at UNL Winter Wheat Variety Plot in Jefferson County – June 1 – 15, 2021 – Visit location and grab a self-guided tour handout out of the red realtor box at the plots. Plots will be labeled by variety name in the first replication.
