Nebraska On-Farm Research Network – Annual Results Update Meeting on Wednesday, February 21 from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at Holiday Inn at 4005 N 6th St, Beatrice, NE 68310. Check-in and refreshments begin 30 minutes prior to the meeting. Nebraska farmers and agronomists are invited to join the Nebraska On-Farm Research Network for its 2024 Annual Results Update meeting. There is no cost to attend, but pre-registration is required for all participants. The Eastern Nebraska Soil Health Conference will be held Thursday, February 9, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. at the Nielsen Community Center, 200 Anna Stalp Ave., in West Point, Nebraska. The program will highlight information about new technics in developing healthier soils and how healthy soil translates into better crops. Farmers that have attended other recent Nebraska Extension Soil Health conferences have commented on what they valued about the program: “the program provided very high-quality material. Too frequently these trainings only touch on the benefits of no-till and cover crops. This training did an incredible job at educating on the how and the why. And risks associated. I really enjoyed the informational panel discussions as well.”
Conference participants will learn about:
- Contributions of cover crops to sustainably intensified agricultural systems from Dr. Shalamar Armstrong, Purdue University
- Using winter hardy small cereals for early spring grazing, Dr. Mary Drewnoski, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- Utilizing carbon amendments to improve soil health, Amy Schmidt, University of Nebraska-Lincoln
- Nebraska Extension soil health programs from Dr. Carolina Cordova, UNL Soil Health Specialist and Dr. Katja Koehler-Cole, UNL Extension Educator
A farmer-led panel discussion will provide insights on implementing soil health methods. An agriculture industry led panel discussion will highlight tools and techniques used to improve soil health. Products, services, and technologies for soil health will be showcased by local suppliers.

- Crop-livestock integration economics from Dr. Cory Walters, UNL Agricultural Economist
- Establishing corn into perennial clover covers from Jenny Rees, UNL Extension Educator
- Nebraska Extension soil health programs from Dr. Carolina Cordova, UNL Soil Health Specialist and Dr. Katja Koehler-Cole, UNL Extension Educator
