This is Dr. Nathan Mueller, your local agronomist with Nebraska Extension for Dodge and Washington counties. Positioning your farm to be resilient and successful despite the current downturn will be among the timely topics presented at the Fremont Corn Expo on January 5th.
“Choosing Your Row Ahead” is the theme of this year’s program. You as corn growers have a whole series of decisions to make during a growing season. Choosing the “row” ahead or best series of decisions is what presentations at the Fremont Crop Expo will be about, including:
- Multi-Hybrid Planting Preparation with Joe Luck, Nebraska Extension precision agriculture engineer
- The Economic Outlook for US Agriculture with Brent Gloy, agricultural economist at Purdue University.
- With Phosphorus, You Have Choices! with Charles Shapiro, Nebraska Extension soil science and crop nutrient specialist.
- and Tools to Help Weather the Storms Ahead with Brian Smith, National Weather Service Meteorologist at Omaha/Valley.
In addition, a panel of Ag professionals will look at what lies ahead for your farm finances and you will get industry updates from Nebraska Farm Bureau, Fremont Chamber, Nebraska Corn Growers Association, Nebraska Corn Board, and Colfax-Dodge County Corn Growers.
The Fremont Corn Expo on Thursday, January 5, will start at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast, presentations will start at 9:00 am and we will be finished up by 3 p.m. The Expo is held at Christensen Field Main Arena at 1730 W. 16th St in Fremont. Nearly 50 agribusinesses will be exhibiting at the expo throughout the day. The Corn Expo is a one-stop shop for you as a corn grower to get the critical information you need to effectively manage locally-relevant corn production issues. The topics at this year’s expo were driven by over 100 attendee responses in a survey mailed out after last year’s expo. This is an event for corn growers by corn growers! The event is free and includes breakfast and lunch. For more information and a full list of sponsors and exhibitors visit our website at croptechcafe.org/fremontcornexpo. If you are a certified crop advisor, a total of 2.5 units of continuing education will be available
