KTIC Radio Extension Corner: On-Farm Research Annual Results Updates

This is Dr. Nathan Mueller, your local agronomist with Nebraska Extension for Dodge and Washington counties. Join me next Monday in Mead or Tuesday in Norfolk for the Nebraska On-Farm Research Annual Results Updates. Come hear from growers who conducted on-farm research as they share their results from the 2016 growing season. You will obtain valuable crop production-related information from over 70 on-farm research projects conducted on Nebraska farms by Nebraska farmers in partnership with University of Nebraska faculty. These research projects cover products, practices, and new technologies that impact farm productivity and profitability.

There is no cost to attend and lunch is provided, but pre-registration is requested for meal planning purposes. Again, you can join us on

  • Monday, Feb. 20 near Mead at the Eastern Nebraska Research and Extension Center located at the Agricultural Research and Development Center.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 21 in Norfolk at the Lifelong Learning Center located on the Northeast Community College Campus

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with the program running from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at both locations. Approval has been sought for Certified Crop Adviser CEU credits and is pending approval. Attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the 2016 growing season results book.

Research projects to be discussed will include: cover crops, variable rate seeding, planting populations, multi-hybrid planting, starter fertilizer, fungicide applications, alternate crop rotations, multi-hybrid planting uses, seed treatments, and sidedress nitrogen management technologies including commercially available models and Project SENSE which uses crop canopy sensors for in-season, variable-rate nitrogen management.
