This is Dr. Nathan Mueller, your local agronomist for Nebraska Extension. Nebraska Extension in cooperation with the Corn and Soybean Boards is conducting a workshop in Fremont on Thursday, Dec. 10th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to introduce you to a tool that measures key farm efficiencies. Field to Market Efficiency Workshop will teach you how to use a web-based computer tool called the Fieldprint® Calculator.

The tool rewards farms focused on efficient use of inputs, productivity, and sound stewardship practices. It provides an opportunity for you to assess how your farm measures up to others across the state. Fieldprints can help you to establish benchmark data on a field and track improvements over time, set energy-saving and efficiency goals and compare performance against local, state and national benchmarks. This Field to Market Efficiency Workshop will be held in Fremont on Thursday Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and pre-registration is required by today for next week’s workshop by calling 727-2775.

The field assessment workshop in Fremont is hands-on and will show you how to document eight sustainability and efficiency indicators. Participants will select a representative corn or soybean field for 2015 and complete a data input sheet in advance of the workshop.

The free meal and workshop materials are sponsored through a Nebraska Extension Innovation grant and funding from the Nebraska Corn and Soybean Boards.  Computer laptops are provided to you or you are free to bring your own laptop too.

Again, the Fieldprint Calculator workshop will be held in Fremont on Thursday Dec. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please pre-register by today for next week’s workshops by calling 727-2775 or visiting our locally-focused website at croptechcafe.org.
